Most driver's licence business can be taken care of online on the Texas Department of Public Safety's website.
You will need to determine who gave you the ticket. Instructions and contact numbers are printed on the notice you received.
Across the counter we take checks*, money orders, and cash. If you wish to pay court costs by credit card, you can do this online through our Hood County District Clerk Portal. There is an additional 2.89% transaction fee the credit card company charges for this service.
*We do not accept checks for payment of felony court costs.
You can search for your felony case through our Hood County District Clerk Portal. From there, you will be able to see the total assessments and the total payments and credits, as well as all payments made. To get your balance, you will have to deduct the total payments and credits from the total assessment figure.
If you are an attorney of record or pre-approved Attorney General employee, and have registered and requested access through our Hood County District Clerk Portal, you have access to copies on cases you are the attorney on. If neither of these apply, you may request copies in person or by mail. Please provide as much information as possible so we know which document(s) you are requesting (our Hood County District Clerk Portal website search may help). If you are sending a request by mail, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment. There is a $5.00 record search fee if the clerk must locate the cause number or ascertain the existence of a document in a file. Non-certified copies are $1.00/page. An additional per document charge of $5.00 is required to certify.
If a lawsuit has been filed against you for delinquent taxes, you may pay the court costs at the District Clerk's Office. Contact the District Clerk at 817-579-3236. To pay the balance of outstanding taxes, contact the Hood County Appraisal District at 817-573-2471.
If you are unable to make the date on your jury summons, we can reschedule if you haven't been rescheduled in the last 365 days. Contact the District Clerk's office for reschedule. If you can claim one of the exemptions or disqualifications on the back of your summons, fill in the form and return to the District Clerk office with a stamp. Check the District Clerk website for notifications of jury cancellations.
The District Clerk's office cannot provide legal advice or forms. There is a link to 'Self Help' on the District Clerk website which is a resource for the 'pro-se' filer. In addition, local rules by joint agreement of the 355th Judicial District Court Judge and County Court at Law #1 Judge, dictate the attachment of the 'Family Standing Order' to every divorce and every suit affecting the parent-child relationship or modification thereof filed in these courts. There is a 'Passport' section on the District Clerk website which addresses questions relating to passports. We do not take appointments. It is first come, first served. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. We do not take passport photos, so be sure to bring those with you. Some passport applications do not require an acceptance facility. The District Clerk's office does not schedule court dates. These are set by the Court Administrators for the 355th Judicial District Court, County Court at Law No. 1 Court, and the Attorney General Court. Scheduled court hearing dates can be seen on the District Clerk Portal website for all courts except the Attorney General. If the Court seals a case, the District Clerk's office is prohibited by law to provide any information regarding it. We suggest you contact an attorney to access sealed records. Information on these types of cases can only be disclosed by court order.
All payments are sent to the Texas State Disbursement Unit (SDU). You should contact the SDU website and request a copy. For custodial and noncustodial parent inquiries: TXSDU Call Center Phone: 1-800-252-8014. The District Clerks office is able to print a copy of the payments for you, but we are not able to certify the document.
